Greetings Padlings,

It occurred to me this weekend while I was trying to come up with ideas for this week’s strips that I haven’t nearly begun to use Granny enough.

Granny of course is a composite of all the clueless, sometimes charming but usually acrid old ladies who accidentally wandered into the store. Occasionally they did so because they were buying a gift for a grandkid, but just as often they were looking for something we didn’t carry. And when I say “something we didn’t carry”, I mean they were way off.

I’m resisting the urge to list off the many strange items I’ve been asked for because they’re such obvious fodder for future strips, but I’ll never forget the day a Granny asked me if we repaired clock radios. She even showed it to me, in case we only repaired certain brands or models of clock radios. And if these situations weren’t strange enough, Grannies seem to only have two responses when you tell them you can’t help them; they either look at you like you just clubbed their favourite kitty over the head with a baseball bat, or they erupt into fist-shaking rage, as though we could help them but just won’t because they’re old and smell like ointments. Grannies certainly are an interesting group of customer. I’m just glad I’m only writing about them now and don’t have to serve them anymore.

Before I go, I apologize for missing Friday’s update. Things were just too busy, and as I mentioned when I got the d+pad wheel turning again, it will happen from time to time. But don’t despair, I made sure that today’s comic was twice as funny* as usual to make up for it.

Thanks for reading!
